On the 10th September, the Finatrade Foundation donated one thousand school bags, stationery items, and refreshments to class one pupils in 18 basic schools within the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipality, close to Spintex road in Accra.
This gesture by the Foundation is part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the Foundation, themed “A Decade of Exemplary Corporate Social Responsibility”.
The recycled school bags which were produced by the Ghana School bag project were branded with logos from the Rice Master’s range of products. These were donated by CCTC.
Lactasoy branded exercise books were provided by Market Direct Ltd. Additional stationery items, i.e. erasers, pencils, ruler sets and the soymilk beverages for the children were all paid for out of the donations received from Finatrade staff. Staff from each of the group’s subsidiary companies donated a day or more of their salary to the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary activities, of which this was the first.
According to Finatrade Group HR Director, Mr. Elias Daher, the decision to present the bags and stationeries to the pupils within the municipality was a way of appreciating the community in which the company operates.
“We recognize our immediate environment as a key to our success story as a company, the peaceful atmosphere we have enjoyed has brought about company growth and expansion, and it is for this reason that we show our appreciation to all within the municipality by presenting these items to these children on their first day at school,” said Mr. Daher.
